The church that I found with the most activity. Notice the Easter baskets, which are filled with Easter cakes and other goodies, and perhaps wine, etc. (depending on who is carrying it.) See accompanying story for Sunday, 27Apr08.

No idea what the building in the background is, but I'm sure glad I'm not the one who has to fix it!

I walked past this place a few times last time I was in Odessa, and a few times this trip, too, and I never saw anyone go in or out of it. What the hell is it? Finally, I figured I had to know, so I walked in and discovered that it was the Ukraine's answer to FAO Swartz. 4 stories of kids toys, clothing, and food. Unfortunately, the toys were pretty much Disney, Mattel, etc. All words were in English, except the paper tags. I could have been in downtown S.F. (except for the guards all over the place.)

I went to the Privoz Market to find it closed, but there were still a few brave souls trying to make a living by selling whatever they could. Here is what the Easter cakes look like.

This guy was trying to sell his green onions or shallots or whatever they are. I wish him the best of luck - not a good day to be trying to make a living. (We've got those things growing in the back yard back home - I weed-whack 'em.)
